Food was delicious!!! We drove out from Disneyland to try this little gem out. It had great reviews already on both Google maps and yelp. We got tue carne asada plate and the grilled pork as well, a nacatamale, quesillo, and Maduro con queso and cream. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some good authentic central American food.

Flew here from a place that has no Nicaraguan food. Glad this spot was in LA. Me and my wife had the churrasco and Cebada just like it was home again. As well as tostones for an app. The fried cheese is so great and the owner recommended a store nearby to get Nicaraguan products like cheese and pastries.

Found this little place thru Google. Went on a Saturday aroumd 2pm. Restaurant was clean and plenty of open seating. It was a very hot day but they had some portable ac units going which made the inside more confortable than the outside. The food was great with fast service. The fritanga, baho, gallopinto, and salpicon were delicious. Prices are average, although if i recall correctly, So Camacho gives more food on the fritanga for a similar price. Despite that, the food was great! Recommend .

So happy to have found an awesome Nicaraguan restaurant! My parents are Nicaraguan and I grew up eating this type of food. I had only tried one other Nicaraguan restaurant in LA but I didn't enjoy the food. Then I found Sabor Nicaragense. I had the carne asada dish with Gallo pinto, plantains, fried cheese, and cabbage. I also got a side of tortillas and a cacao drink. Everything was SOO delicious! It is very authentic Nicaraguan food. I can't wait to eat hear again!

Based a on a recommendation from trusty Michelle N, I hit up Sabor for dinner on one of my LA day trips. I was debating between the Fritanga tri-meat combo platter or the Carne Sada and the owner was honest and recommended the Carne Sada because the multi-meat platter was too huge (it was only $3 more).

Carne Sada ($11.99) - Thick cut strips of beef, marinated and seasoned all over with spicy spices, cooked to dark brown but still holding its tenderness. No joke, any plate you get here is a ton of food. It comes with Gallo Pinto (rice and beans mixed together), a triangle of queso frito (fried cheese that has the consistency of hard tofu), ensalada de repollo (Nicaraguan cabbage slaw) and more than you can eat pile of tajadas verdes (long cut, deep fried plantain chips). Also served on the side was a white onion salsa. I don't know what the name of it was but it was pickled and provided a mild kick that went well with my meat and rice and with the plantain chips. The plate was a mix of different flavors and textures that totaled to awesomeness. I left stuffed and could not finish it all.

Moroccan Tea ($3.25) - A hot mint tea served on a metal tea service tray with tea pot and honey on the side. It's a refreshing and warming counter to cut through the oils and the filling food. I was impressed with the elaborate setup, it's a great value.

Parking - DO NOT MISS THE TURN IN. If you turn down the street right next to the plaza you will find it impossible to make a left turn out to get back into the plaza because of the crazy street traffic. The strip mall entry and flow is only one way. On the weekends during the day it's valet only until 5 pm and I can see why. There are only maybe 10-12 parking spots in the plaza.

Why haven't I had Nicaraguan food before? Because there just aren't many Nicaraguan restaurants in Southern California. If you are curious like I was, check them out. You get a lot of bang for your buck along with some good eats and at home service.

Took my wife here to eat as we are always looking for Nicaraguan food. I had a churassco with chimichurri sauce and was yummy. Tajadas were crunchy and I really loved the nacatamal we had to go. Gallo pinto was a lil bland. Oh, but the cheese!

I am Nicaraguense and have been to Nicaragua several times throughout my life and eating here was like eating in Nicaragua! The plates were HUGE for very decent prices. I ordered the gallo pinto plate which comes with fried rice and beans, plantain chips, fried cheese and curtido for $7.99! The cacao (chocolate milk) was soooo good! They even have Nacatamales! These tamales are the best I have ever tried! They have bajo, milca, rosquillas and so many other Nica foods! I will definitely be back! Since we are from out of town, we are taking 10 Nacatamales back with us to Arizona! They are only $5 each and as the photo shows, 2 people can easily share it. Amazing Nicaraguense food!

I have always eaten on Mexican or Salvadorian restaurant, but my parent recommend this place. Is a small place but really is one of the vest foods I have tested! And i do eat a lot out. Mom and Pop Nicaraguan restaurant - loved the hospitality of the husband and wife team. So friendly, so welcoming - checked on us at least a handful of times.

Foods were equally enticing. All meat combo included chorizo, fried pork chop, and grilled steak. Every cut was generously put together + perfectly made. Beef tongue in salsa was one of my fav tongue dishes of all time! Super tender and melt in your mouth delish! Paired with their caramelized sweet plantain, stewed black beans + fluffy rice, and refreshing cabbage salad - best combo ever!

Great value - huge portion! Would certainly return to check out the rest of the menu! Can't wait to try their breakfast platters!

We live just down the street from this place, so we tried it out on a quiet Wednesday night. We had the place to ourselves for the whole meal, though I'm not sure why because the food and service was great.

I will say the wait for our food was pretty long and the prices were a little high, but when we got our entrees it was clear why. The food was hot and freshly prepared and the portions were enormous. Each dish is served with gallo pinto (rice and beans), a cabbage salad, fried plantains, plus whatever your main dish is. I ordered Carne Y Camarons (steak and shrimp), which was great. The steak was well marinated and well done - it reminded be of Brazilian style BBQ. The shrimp were equally tasty, seasoned with something a little salty and spicy.

So glad we stopped by! We'll definitely be back for more.

Although I've had a taste of El Salvadorian salpicon and pupusas, I'd yet to try Nicaraguan cuisine til today!! Sabor (Spanish word for 'flavor') Nicaraguense is a bright, new sit-down Nicaraguan restaurant located just North of the 10 on Western (look for the Tacos Chabelita and attempt to find street parking). It's near USC!!!!! I got the Desayuno Nico with Carne Asada (per the owner's recommendation. The chorizo sounds good too!) for a solid $13.09 w/ tax.

Quick Tips:
-Located in a small strip mall with a dead-end street. There is some parking in the strip mall, but I recommend finding street parking.
-Roomy! About 10 4tops inside.
-Entrees come with a choice of gallo pinto (Nicaraguan side dish of kidney beans and rice) or white rice, and THEN sweet fried plantains or tajadas fritas (non-sweet green plantain chips)
-A large jar of cebollita is brought to every table (Nicaraguan curtido made of lime-pickled onions and carrots). THIS IS DELICIOUS. Just a tad spicy. On a scale of 1-Howlin'(10) it's a 2/10
-Most entrees also come with a queso frito (triangular slice of queso de frer, which is also very popular in Dominican cuisine) and ensalada de repollo (pickled cabbage salad)

My Desayuno Nico was a huge plate of gallo pinto, tender carne asada, 2 fried eggs (not overdone!), tajadas fritas (huge recommend!), and ensalada de repollo. Carne asada was fatty and juicy, but not too fatty! Very well seasoned.

So in general, the sides are muted compared to the carne asada (except the ensalada de repollo which had a strong pickled flavor, which I loved). Although fresh and hot, I was expecting the gallo pinto and tajadas to be a bit saltier (and looking back, I'm glad they weren't). This allowed the carne asada to shine and me to play with the cebollita. I was half expecting tortillas..haha.

The tajadas fritas are amazing. Light, crispy plantain chips that aren't salty. Could have used a dip or something..? I wonder if they use it in Nicaragua.

The food was great very fresh and tasty. It did take 25min to wait for food but it was worth it. Only thing is they should consider getting bilingual servers, the server we got had a bit of a smart attitude, and was kinda hovering for payment. and the attitude of the servers is good, they are happy to see you, they take your order right away,

I never post reviews, but as a Nicaraguan I've always felt that we are deprived of good Nicaraguan restaurants in LA. I was skeptical because the reviews seemed too good to be true, but I decided to give this place a chance. I took my overly critical 100% Nicaraguan family including an 80 year old grandmother that does not hold back on her opinions as well as a very picky Mexican boyfriend. Needless to say it was delicious! For drinks we ordered Cacao (of course), maracuya and guanabana. They came in large cups and were very refreshing. We ordered fritanga, churrasco, sopa de res and camarones al ajo. It was so good. Gallo pinto had good flavor and was not at all greasy. The plantain chips were perfectly crisped. The meats were juicy and soft. The portions were awesome! Overall the space was very clean with ample space and the service was quick and friendly. I didn't get a single complaint from my family which is a feat in and of itself especially when talking about Nicaraguan food. My one recommendation is the bunuelos get added to the menu!

Love checking out the Hot & New section on Yelp, always looking for something amazing. So I come across Sabor Nicaraguense Restaurant and realize they have 20 5 star reviews. Hmmmm. Had to check them out.

We came for lunch 1230 PM ish. Place is cute, very Nicaraguan. Despite being a gringo I have been to Nicaragua twice so can honestly say the dcor is authentico. Decided to order the Sopa De Camaron/Caldo -shrimp soup. Expected something okay. Well - what they served me was way beyond okay. The kitchen prepared for me a MASSIVE bowl of creamy soup with absolutely perfect shrimp. The shrimp were cooked to Michelin standards, cleaned/deveined - tender - perfect. In the soup I also found some delicious filet of fish - clean/deboned - flawless, amazing carrots, onions and yucca. With my soup came a lovely plate of rice. This was 5 star dining at it's best.

Our waitress was charming. The passion fruit drink was delicious. This is a wonderful restaurant with world class Latin American cuisine.

I ordered the Sopa de Res today for lunch. This is a 5 star dish. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the beef was perfectly cooked as it was tender, seasoned well and it fell off the bone. The vegetables in the soup (carrots, cabbage, yucca, zucchini, corn) were also perfectly cooked and one can tell that the ingredients they use are fresh and they take pride in what they do. I had the limonada con chia, a refreshing beverage that I am told is popular in Nicaragua.

Our waitress Lisette (sp?) was very kind and attentive, and the dining area is very clean. I was happy to see that they had soccer playing on the television!

I stole a shrimp from my partner's soup (sopa de camaron), and I will say that this too was 5 star. The shrimp was perfectly cleaned and prepared, and cooked just right. I will most likely be ordering this dish on the next visit there!

(For the less adventurous, they have burgers and fries, and I also saw some chicken taquitos).

Okay. I'm guilty. I've had this food delivered to my home for now the 3rd consecutive days. Not to mention I also went there on Sunday. I'm Nicaraguan and I'm VERY picky about my food. The fried shrimp is amazing! Of course the gallo pinto is great! Can't forget about that! lol. Can we talk about extraordinary customer service. The one order I made by Uber eats got messed up and the owner made made my order again and personally came to delivery it to my home. I'm currently writing this review as I enjoying my fried shrimp lol. It taste just as amazing even when it's delivered. So yeah, I'm already in love with this place. Please stop going to LA 27 and come checkout this new hidden gem!!!!!!!

This was the most magnificent discovery I have ever made recently. I came in here last week and from the very entrance I was impressed with the decor and later also service. The place was well furnished. It was spacious. Servers treated me so warm that I felt a little bit flattered . Food was the yummiest ever ever EVER!!!!

I have my original 5 star review when this place was on venice blvd under the business name "El Camacho". Then they had to leave in anov 2016 and were supposed to open in this new place Jan of 2017. However, i drove bh this new place for months and never saw it open, until i aaw it this month!!!

Came with wify and certainly as expected, not disappointed. The same quality/quantity delicious food and top notch service with a smile. I can't believe im going to say this but because of this place, i can say that i love Nicaraguan food more than Guatemalan!

I been saying Imma eat a nacatamal but keep bumming it. Today, i made sure to make it out. Woww, the tamal was delicious and please don't be fooled, the portion is a lot. If you can finish two, dang you can eat. Also, make sure to add chilero to it.

By the way, i saw a couple of people with breakfast plates, and they were enormous portions. I think this place is delicious and by far a bang for your buck. I'll be back this weekend.

I just finished eating a Fritanga plate I ordered via postmates. It was so delicious. I grew up eating Nica food and this place is one of the best I have had. I will be ordering again and definitely stopping by to eat there.

Little unassuming hole in the wall place. These are always the hidden gems that have authentic food with great service. This place beats other nica restaurants out of the water. Woooow. This place is legit! Came here bc of the reviews on Yelp and it sure did not dissapoint. I'm from Honduras and know of good homemade central american food and even tho I love my country, the restaurant options here in LA SUCK! from costumer service to actual consistency of the food it sucks.

But this place was amazing, everything had flavor and you could taste the freshness of the food. We ordered:
-Empanadas de maduro conqueso (wooow que rico)
-Fritanga (all the meats tasted fresh, not old or chewy)
-sopa de res (super rico)

Will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu. My new favorite central american food.

This place is good try the quesillo or the carne asada. This is a family friendly place you will enjoy a good plate of food.

I was on my way to another restraunt near by and was not willing to wait so I decided to try this place and it turned out to be a great experience. Small place, friendly staff, decent prices for the big plates. I got the desayuno Nicaragüense (breakfast). It comes with two fried eggs, plantain chips, rice bean mix, fried cheese, chorizo,steak, and pork. It was all delicious.
